For Ontario home builders
The supplementary tax bill is one of the most common surprises for new-home buyers. It often arrives months after closing and can cover the time since the home was finished. Buyers who weren't warned tend to call their builder.
What we offer
- A co-branded insert for your closing package: "What to expect from MPAC", explaining supplementary and omitted assessments, why the bill may be retroactive, and the 120-day window to ask MPAC to reconsider. In English and French.
- A timely check. Buyers can check whether their new home's assessment lines up with similar homes in the same subdivision. For new Ontario homes, we compare with homes in the same subdivision built within 2 years of yours.
- Fewer surprised calls to your customer-care team, because the explanation arrived first.
Some buyers may be fairly assessed. If they are, we'll tell them. That's reassuring news to hear from your builder's partner.
Payment
By default we pay builders nothing. The value is fewer complaints. Where it's permitted and your program wants it, a per-file contribution to your customer-care program can be set out in writing and disclosed to buyers.
